About/Experience
Lindy Kahn, M.A., C.E.P., brings her
skills, knowledge and compassion to the field of educational
consulting. She founded
her firm in 1995 and has helped guide hundreds of families
in choosing educational options for her clients. Ms. Kahn
has successfully counseled top level college bound students,
students struggling with specific learning issues, students
with emotional, and behavioral, as well as neurological problems
and assisted academic underachievers to find their ideal
school. Ms. Kahn is dedicated to finding the most appropriate
match, whether it is a school, college or specialized program.
Her clients range in age from elementary school, typically
10 or 12 years old, through young adults, 18-25 years old.
Due to her training in psychology and background as a former
speech pathologist, she uses her expertise and knowledge
to interpret psychological testing, identify children with
special needs, counsel with parents and interact with mental
health professionals in the field.
Ms. Kahn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Pathology
and Audiology, from Queens College, the City University of
New York and her Master of Arts degree
in Communicative Disorders from the University of Houston. As a licensed speech
pathologist and state certified teacher, her background includes intensive course
work in special education, psychology, educational counseling, diagnostic testing
and evaluation of learning-disabled, gifted and non-traditional learners. Ms.
Kahn is a member of a professional organization of independent educational consultants
and holds specific credentials as a Certified Educational Planner. She is committed
to the association's Principles of Good Practice. Her clients are the students
and the families, and her commitment is to find the program that is the best
fit for each student.
In her private practice, she travels extensively all over the U.S., to visit
schools, colleges, and special needs programs, to keep abreast of the latest
information. She meets personally with administrators and admissions staff, evaluating
these facilities, to provide the most recent information to her clients. Several
times a year, she attends professional conferences, which address issues related
to educational and therapeutic options.
Lindy Kahn is a recipient of the Excellence
in Education Award for several years in a row, acknowledged by
Woodbury Reports Inc. It is only given to schools, programs,
